This plaque was a gift from the abbot of the Greek Orthodox Pendeli Monastery on the outskirts of Athens. He stayed with 7 of his priests and theologian Constatin Zoros, who new Casa Cares through Oikosnet, an ecumenical association of meeting centers from around Europe.

In September 1984 a forest fire destroyed about a hectare of the five hectares of woods above the villa. Several huge cypress trees lining the processional path going up the hill were not burnt but killed in the process. A couple years afterwards Artist Eliseo Laganà made this table and wall benches.

Donated by Giulietta Nunzi, this weathercock was part of the Piani podere with its chapel, the original one on the farm. The letters likely refer to "Fattoria Graffi Quaratesi". The name Graffi was known in the area a thousand years ago. The Quaratesi family were the owners during the prosperous 18th and 19th centuries.

Above original kitchen hearth of the Villa I Graffi one can still see this mechanism for turning meat on the spit. The access door to the kitchen from outside was reopened during renovations in 2017, most likely the only room where the farmers could enter.

At that time the craftsman donated the vase saying that there certainly was one originally.

The clock mechanism, restored in 2017, was purchased in 1827. It was meant to ring on the quarter hour and on the hour 24 hours per day. Such tower clocks were very popular in the 1800's, as demonstrated also by the clock on the bell tower of Cascia/Reggello. Casa Cares has chosen to not activate the clock because it disturbs guests in the room below.

An expert on tower clocks noted from the ground, perhaps because of the crucifix, that this bell probably was not originally meant for the clock. In fact the clock is from the first half of the 19th century and the bell from the middle of the 18th.
